I enjoyed a caffeine hit on Mount Ngauruhoe yesterday - New Zealand's highest coffee with the added extra of it being sipped on an active volcano. Topped of by a walk in the clouds, a train trip to Palmerston North and another great gig in the North Island
Ohura
Ive stopped off In Ohura , which lies just off the Forgotten World Highway in the North Island. Once the home of coal miners and prisoners this small town has become a ghost if its past with empty shops and houses.
The prison has been turned into a motel and the old railway line is now an adventure cart ride - unfortunately the weather is preventing me checking this out! The local community is hanging on , it's definitely isolated, and feels like a million miles away from anywhere. More pics to follow ( if weather improves )
