It seems the police always get a bad press, particularly traffic police. I think I have a solution.
I propose a new Stop and Compliment policy is implemented.
Traffic police could stop drivers to compliment them on their driving. i.e. "I liked the way you pulled out of the junction" or "thanks for driving safely", "great line through that corner" etc. Maybe this could even be expanded into other areas e.g. Parking Wardens who could place "great parallel parking", "thanks for not overstaying your time" type stickers on your windscreen.
Perhaps after receiving 12 compliments you could gain a reduction in car tax / insurance, or free parking allowances.
This could go some way to solving the negative press and who knows may even reduce crime / road traffic offences, and generally just make life that wee bit nicer for everyone.
After all what goes around comes around.
